I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and my work incorporates the following therapeutic approaches:

Contemporary (Integrative) Psychotherapy: Contemporary Psychotherapy looks at how individuals create habitual patterns of response to life and relationships. I aim to create new helpful patterns of thinking and behaviour and utilize different processes and protocols to manage and adapt to life in a more helpful way.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy: EMDR is a psychological treatment that uses eye movements to process disturbing memories that cause distorted and distressing thinking and feelings of anxiety. It was developed in the 1980s and was used primarily for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress, but can also be useful for the treatment of other conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Clinical Hypnotherapy: Clinical Hypnosis or Hypnotherapy, describes a state of inner focus and (mostly pleasant) relaxation in which our conscious awareness is ‘turned down’ for a while allowing the subconscious mind the time and space to work through difficult issues.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical therapy that helps clients identify and challenge distressing, distorted thoughts. When people think more realistically, they feel better. The emphasis is on solving problems and changing unhelpful behaviour.

Mindfulness: Mindfulness helps us to become more focussed on thoughts and emotional reactions to events as they happen. The mindfulness practitioner learns to become more focussed on ‘the present moment’. This can help reduce worry (irrational thinking about the future) and move on from past events (which we can do nothing about). This is achieved through a series of exercises and guided meditations.
